thedigitalnomad.io is operated by Digital Nomad Media LLC.
The short version
We collect what you type into the contact form, plus an account if you choose to create one. We use it to reply to you. We do not sell it, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not add you to a marketing list.
What we collect
When you send an inquiry
- Your name, email address and (optionally) Discord handle
- Your budget range and message
- The listing, game or service the inquiry relates to, and the page you sent it from
- Your browser's user agent, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address - used solely to rate-limit spam. The raw IP address is not stored.
When you create an account
- Email address and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider, never in plain text)
- Display name and Discord handle, if you provide them
- The inquiries associated with your account, and the reply threads on them
Automatically
- A session cookie when you are signed in. It is strictly necessary for the site to know who you are, and it is removed when you sign out.
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider for security and diagnostics.
What we do not do
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies
- No selling or renting of personal data
- No marketing email unless you separately ask for it
- No profiling or automated decision-making
Why we are allowed to hold it
For inquiries and project work: because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and to perform that contract. For spam prevention and security: our legitimate interest in keeping the site usable.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of processors, each of which only sees what it needs:
- Netlify - hosting and delivery of this site
- Supabase - database, authentication and file storage
- Resend - sending the notification and reply emails
- Discord - receives a notification of new inquiries in our private staff channel
No one else. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
How long we keep it
- Inquiries that did not become projects: 24 months, then deleted
- Project records: 6 years, for tax and contractual reasons
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete them
- Rate-limiting hashes: 30 days
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email admin@thedigitalnomad.io and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
